PLAYING PIANO FOR THE SENIOR CITIZENS IN TEDDINGTON
Over the past year I have enjoyed entertaining local senior citizens at Teddington's Over Sixites Club at Ellerary Hall twice a month.
I look forward to continuing to play for everyone over the coming year.
Elleray Hall is a great community resource, and I encourage you all to support it by attending events or by offering a voluntary service as I am doing.
I started taking French horn lessons in November 2013 because I love the sound of the instrument, and wanted to play with other musicians in amateur ensembles.
Learning a new instrument helps me empathise with the difficulties and nervousness of my own beginner piano students, and helps me compose with more understanding of the needs of brass players!
I am pleased to say that I passed my Grade 5 with Distinction in March 2016 and plan to take my Grade 6 exam in November 2016.
PERFORMANCES AT FUND RAISING CONCERTS
FOR THE CITY LIT MUSIC DEPARTMENT
St Paul's Church, Covent Garden, London
June 2014 and February 2015
I was privileged to be one of around 20 students from the City Lit, London, performing in a concert of French piano music to a church full of listeners in June 2014. I played two Messiaen Preludes, La Colombe and Plainte Calme.
Other students gave enjoyable performances of Debussy Preludes and pieces by other French composers including Faure and Ravel.
August 2013, 2014 and 2015
CoMA (CONTEMPORARY MUSIC ASSOCIATION) SUMMER SCHOOLS
at DONCASTER COLLEGE CAMPUS in HIGH MELTON, YORKSHIRE
These summer schools are unmissable for any musician interested in contemporary music. High quality tuition with friendly tutors, interesting
conversations over meals, the chance to have my own compositions
performed and recorded by instrumental ensembles, the opportunity to
listen to new works by other contemporary composers, and so much more.
LIVE MUSIC EVENTS ATTENDED
JULY 2013 - the ROLLING STONES gig in Hyde Park and the DAVID BOWIE exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
MAY 2104 - SWAN LAKE ballet at the Wimbledon Theatre, presented by Matthew Bourne's company. I have never understood or enjoyed ballet, but was encouraged to see this, and am so glad I did - for the first time, ballet made sense to me and I was entranced!
JUNE 2015 - SOUNDSCAPES exhibition at the National Gallery - a very chilled out way to spend an hour, listening to contemporary music matched with beautiful paintings.
